Open to intimacy

In the holidays, many of us choose to spend time and catch up with our relationships with loved ones.

We may have the large get-togethers or smaller visits as a way to connect, re-connect and discover where the adventures of the year took us.

As we are having these conversations and making connections, our comfort levels with intimacy will show up.

You may partake in superficial level of conversation or dive into a important area of your life expressing values and beliefs, this all depends on the person and your comfort level with intimacy.

What does intimacy mean to you?

To some it is how vulnerable we allow ourselves to become, how much we stay in our body, our engaged we remain with the conversation.

Take a moment and ask yourself on a scale of 1-10, ten being the highest”how comfortable am I with intimacy?”

Release all judgments as this answer may differ in different situations.

Your comfort level of intimacy with yourself will be different than that of with your partner, your family, your best friend and your neighbor.

The important thing is the awareness.

What would your life look like if you had more intimacy in your life?

What is your block in having more intimacy?

As we move into the new year, some of the resolutions may be to be fit, to be in a relationship and to have more money. All of these require intimacy.

What steps are you taking to bring more of it in?

Honouring our bodies

How is it you honour your body?

Do you take the necessary time to relax and rejuvenate?

It is the cold/flu season right now. I have been sick on and off for the last three weeks. I have a nice husky voice at the moment that may not really sound like me.

I realized how much I have not honoured my body by not allowing it the rest and rejuvenation that it needed. I have been working long hours as I am really passionate about what I am doing. Admist these long hours, I neglected the passion for honouring my body.

I was forced to cancel a three day vacation of rest and rejuvenation at a small resort as I didn’t have the energy to get on the ferry. Instead I am resting and rejuvenating in the comfort of my own home. I realized that this is the better way for me to rest and rejuvenate as I am learning how to incorporate this into my daily lifestyle.

This lesson did cost me the deposit on the resort and the fact I am sick. It was an important lesson for me to learn. I just have compassion for myself and will incorporate the honouring of my body into my daily routine.

How will you incorporate honouring yourself into your day to day?

Why am I not doing what I want to?

At some point, we may ask ourselves – Why am I not doing what I want to?

We know what we want, we know how to get there but we don’t do what we know we need to do. We may be
-too busy
-tired
-sick
-there is too much going on
-the time isn’t right
-I am not ready yet
-it’s the other person’s fault
-fill in your reason here.
Our mind can find us a million reasons why we are not doing what we want to do.

Resistance shows up in different ways. We are maybe just too busy and stressed to have a few hours for a coffee date, networking event or even for ourselves. When we are feeling overwhelmed, stressed or too busy is really the time when we need to go within ourselves and ask what am I really avoiding right now? What connection am I avoiding? What emotion am I feeling?

This may not feel so good anymore…. here are a few questions to help move out of resistance.

What is it that you really want to do?

What would be the ideal conditions for you to do what you really want to do? Make a list or images of these conditions.

Being honest with yourself, now assess this list or image for what is really necessary and what isn’t.

Now write down one thing that you can do today towards your goal. Yes just one thing.

Once you have done it, how does it feel to have taken that step towards your goal? How do your reasons feel now?

What is another step you can take tomorrow?

It is very important to have compassion for yourself as you are moving towards your goals. It is also important to recognize the support you have or the type of support you may need right now. Sometimes it is a simple act of nurturing yourself through going for a walk, taking a bath or getting a massage. Other times, you may need some energy work that will help to shift some patterns. Sometimes we need a longer term relationship with a mentor/coach that we can have as our support and allow us to be accountable to our goals.

Honor yourself by asking yourself what is it that your soul is really asking for at this time.
Namaste.

Managing Energy

Every day we have 24 hours. In this time, each of us has our priorities as to what we want to achieve and how we achieve it.

We can make the decision to achieve our priorities with ease or do we decide to take a slightly tougher road. I know you are thinking, some things just come more difficult to me. Well as the outside voice, I will tell you that is your ego protecting you.

Yes the ego. The ego is our protector, our friend, the little voice that tells us that our heart is wrong. That is the ego. We essentially waste a lot of time because the ego. It is the part of us that is scared and paralyzed as a way to keep us safe and where we are.

Do you see how much energy it is taking fighting against yourself?

There is a way that you can be your own ally. Become friends with the ego, the protector, the little voice.

For some of you, this is a weird concept so let me explain.

Take a deep breath. Now another one and now one more.
How does your body feel? Are there any parts of your body tighter than others? Become aware of those parts. Breathe into them and ask yourself “What am I holding onto?” Then ask yourself “How do I bring myself into alignment?”

Now talk to your ego self. Tell them how you love them and cherish them. Thank them for taking care of you for so long. Let the ego mind know that you are releasing them of that duty so that they can play and enjoy themselves.

Notice your energy now. Feel recharged?
By bringing yourself into alignment, you manage your energy in a more abundant manner.

Now the question is….How can you use that abundant energy to live your life purpose?
