Making a decision

I had made a last minute decision to come to India two weeks. It is last minute as I decided to leave within two weeks and go for one month. Miraculously, all of my projects and coaching relationships aligned to allow me to either honor my commitments from India or when I came back, this taught me that the universe does truly align when we make a decision and know in our heart it is our highest good.

The last time I came to the Athreya Ayurvedic Resort in Kottayam, Kerala was in January 2012 and August 2010. At that time I was suffering from a debilitating back pain that had me in bed for 7 months out of three years. In my first visit, I walked out of the back pain forever. The second visit was more a cherry on top. This visit is more of physical detox and cleanse as I have been doing so much spiritual, emotional and mental work that I needed to bring the physical into alignment.

Injury has taught me that it is just not physical. My back pain was a combination of feeling unsafe, insecure, not living my purpose. It was an important lesson for me to listen to my body and the messages I receive.

Have you noticed that when you breathe into a pain in your body, awareness may arise?

Every time I make a decision that I am going to be healthy, pain free or anything in that manner, I notice that “miraculously” I am. I have been a strong believer in that power is in the mind and that is proven to me on a day to day.

A decision sometimes is not make any decision at all but that it still a decision. A decision allows us to send a clear message of what we really want so that we can receive it.

What decision do you want to make for yourself in this moment? What have you been going back and forth on but know the answer that is in your highest good?

I made a decision two weeks ago to bring my physical into alignment with everything else. I am sitting here jetlagged at the resort, sore from my treatment today but overjoyed that I have been supported in my decision.

Open to intimacy

In the holidays, many of us choose to spend time and catch up with our relationships with loved ones.

We may have the large get-togethers or smaller visits as a way to connect, re-connect and discover where the adventures of the year took us.

As we are having these conversations and making connections, our comfort levels with intimacy will show up.

You may partake in superficial level of conversation or dive into a important area of your life expressing values and beliefs, this all depends on the person and your comfort level with intimacy.

What does intimacy mean to you?

To some it is how vulnerable we allow ourselves to become, how much we stay in our body, our engaged we remain with the conversation.

Take a moment and ask yourself on a scale of 1-10, ten being the highest”how comfortable am I with intimacy?”

Release all judgments as this answer may differ in different situations.

Your comfort level of intimacy with yourself will be different than that of with your partner, your family, your best friend and your neighbor.

The important thing is the awareness.

What would your life look like if you had more intimacy in your life?

What is your block in having more intimacy?

As we move into the new year, some of the resolutions may be to be fit, to be in a relationship and to have more money. All of these require intimacy.

What steps are you taking to bring more of it in?

How to discover beauty in life

Heart in the sky

Enjoying the present

Enjoying the present

Beautiful messages and opportunities will present themselves to us as we stay present to our location, our surroundings, our community and especially ourselves.

Both if these pictures represent the messages from the universe and reminders of how beautiful life really is. In Richmond, I was having a conversation with two friends when we noticed the heart in the sky.

Coincidentally enough our conversation was about how we open our hearts to receive. As precisely the same time, this heart was formed in the sky. What a confirmation!

The second picture was taken as I went for a walk around my neighborhood. As I was engaging with my neighbors through smiles and hellos, I started to notice the place of happiness being expanded inside me. As I continued to walk, I became more and more grateful for where I lived and the beauty that exists in my backyard.

What is it that you are truly grateful for in your life and your community? What’s one way to celebrate what you have?

This morning I treated myself to a walk along the harbour to marvel again at the beauty of my home.
