What is stopping you from being happier and healthier?

As I sat on a hotel balcony in Honolulu looking at this beautiful view, I contemplated my own life and where I could be happier and healthier. I went through an exercise of being hard on myself first as some of us have a tendency to do. I quickly recognized I was doing this and stepped into the exercise of seeing myself in a year from now and what is it that I want to create for myself.

I realized I had in the past let money determine for quite a while what I can and can not create for myself. I had given money the power to determine if I was going to be happy or be healthy. I had let money determine my relationship with myself and others. I had let money stop me from making decisions in my life that I knew would be the best for me.

I ask you to share what is stopping you from being happier and healthier?

It was once I healed my relationship with money that I truly felt in control of my own life . I was making decisions from a place of what is best for me instead of what I can afford? I chose to make decisions from a place of how can I be healthier and happier. I also chose to just be happy and healthy instead of waiting for everything to be the way I thought it should be. This new place of having a healed relationship with money is so much more fun and easier than constantly worrying.

How did I heal my relationship with money?

a) I started to build a relationship with it by spending time looking at my bank accounts and statements. I also watched my budget more closely.

b) I also changed my mindset of how I felt about it. I started to look at money from a place as if it was my best friend. I started to treat money as I would a best friend.

What would your life look like if you healed your relationship with money? How different would your life be? What would you do that you are not doing now?

Valuing yourself and how it translates through placement and volunteering

Recently I have become very aware of how we value ourselves shows up in different ways.

It is interesting to watch our actions and become aware of where you sit when entering a room. Do you take the front seat, find a corner, stand in the back or speak to the audience? Ask yourself why you choose the place you do. What does it remind you of? On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you feel you are allowed to take up space on earth?

How you value yourself shows up in how worthy you feel about being paid your true value for what you do. How much of your time do you volunteer? Does the volunteer work translate to other new opportunities or experiences which increase your sense of self worth? Or are you volunteering to feel like you are making a contribution? Does it provide you with a sense of value that your own current work situation doesn’t?

Volunteering is a great gauge for how you value yourself and your skills. If you are constantly being called on to do a certain type of work, are you always doing it for free or do you see your value and are allowing yourself to be compensated in some ways (ex. Monetary, connections, opportunities). If you are doing it out of the purity of your heart, ask yourself “Am I truly valuing my skills and talents?” Then ask yourself “How can I value my skills and talents and still contribute to society in the ways I would like to?”

Our value is something intrinsic that we were born with and our experiences help us define. It is always to be aligned with the highest level of self worth as that is how others will treat you as well – with the highest level of value.

Engaged and Motivated in your Business life?

As I sit here at a coffee shop, I am extremely grateful for the fact that I live a lifestyle that allows me to do what I love when I want. I wear many hats and people always remark “Wow, you are busy.” My response back is always the same, it sounds that way but I truly enjoy what I do.

I have created a lifestyle where my different hats are intermixed and support one another. In reality I don’t really feel like I am working most of the time. I am able to use my creative tools in different projects so that I am constantly engaged. I also have created life long friendships with whom I attend events with. This supports me in having balance as we end the night off with dinner or drink.

It is such a pleasure for me to wake up in the morning to be excited about what I will be learning that day or who I am meeting that day. I get to help people fulfill their dreams and it is the best feeling in the world.

I have learnt much through my business career both working at University of British Columbia and as an entrepreneur. I have been able to apply different tools and skills to make situations work for me.

Now I would like to share them with you so that you are able to feel a deeper level of satisfaction in your business and career. I want others to love spending their days doing what they love, building positive relationships and being wealthy.

Women in Power – Globe and Mail

I came across this series from the Globe and Mail on Women in Power. It is always interesting to me how there is so much focus on women in leadership, in power and in business.

We are really seeing the success of women in different areas and in all areas of their lives. Women for the first time are holding positions of powers while balancing their personal lives. We have come a long way from when the women was a second class citizen.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

What really makes an entrepreneur? Most people believe it is the mindset of wanting to create something of their own with their own boundaries and limitations.

As in Dictionary.com, the definition of an entrepreneur is

1. a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.
2.

an employer of productive labor; contractor.
The main words that stick out for me are “considerable initiative and risk.” If you have ever thought about having your business, the first question to really ask yourself is how ready are you to take initiative and risk in order to be successful? What will this mean for you? How willing and able are you to focus your attention on your business?
There are lots of resources and how-to’s on what entrepreneurs need to know on how to start a business. Before taking the step, it is important to look at what it takes so that you know that you can be ready. A few good resources are

Celebration as you move forward

It comes a time as an individual or an organization where we are pulled to grow. For an individual the time comes when they are faced with an opportunity that will make them step outside their comfort zone. For an organization, it may come when a key individual stands in their truth and makes a decision to move forward.

How do you feel when you are called to step into truth of what your next steps may be? Are you scared, frightened and worried about what others may say? Yes this happens within organizations as well. Organizations have feelings and identities. Many times clients and relationships are built with a person within the organization and not the organization themselves. If the individual decides to leave they may take a part of the organization with them.

For an individual it is important to remember that everything happens for the best. When are given the opportunity to grow, take a deep breath and remember what your strengths are.

For an organization, the management team must stay in a place of open communication, being pro-active and not reactive. The organization should have plans in place to have that key individual’s relationships be introduced to other people in the organization so that the relationship is with the organization and not the person. It is possible to build relationships with organizations, as long as the culture of the organization is collaborative and community building. What is the culture of your organization like?

Step into the next stage of your life with solid foundations based on trust within yourself.

Managing Energy

Every day we have 24 hours. In this time, each of us has our priorities as to what we want to achieve and how we achieve it.

We can make the decision to achieve our priorities with ease or do we decide to take a slightly tougher road. I know you are thinking, some things just come more difficult to me. Well as the outside voice, I will tell you that is your ego protecting you.

Yes the ego. The ego is our protector, our friend, the little voice that tells us that our heart is wrong. That is the ego. We essentially waste a lot of time because the ego. It is the part of us that is scared and paralyzed as a way to keep us safe and where we are.

Do you see how much energy it is taking fighting against yourself?

There is a way that you can be your own ally. Become friends with the ego, the protector, the little voice.

For some of you, this is a weird concept so let me explain.

Take a deep breath. Now another one and now one more.
How does your body feel? Are there any parts of your body tighter than others? Become aware of those parts. Breathe into them and ask yourself “What am I holding onto?” Then ask yourself “How do I bring myself into alignment?”

Now talk to your ego self. Tell them how you love them and cherish them. Thank them for taking care of you for so long. Let the ego mind know that you are releasing them of that duty so that they can play and enjoy themselves.

Notice your energy now. Feel recharged?
By bringing yourself into alignment, you manage your energy in a more abundant manner.

Now the question is….How can you use that abundant energy to live your life purpose?
