Love Yourself Before You Love Anyone Else

“The love you seek is seeking you at this moment.”
- Deepak Chopra

What kind of love do you most seek? What does this love look like for you?

Our capacity to love is dependent on how much we love ourselves. Our heart can only love what it practices on a daily basis. Many times we believe we really do love ourselves, usually we do. There are different forms of love within ourselves as well.

I personally have struggled with the concept of what does it mean to love myself. It is not something that is tangible. It is not something that is measurable so how can I improve how much I love myself. Being South Asian, there has a history of repressed emotions. This is changing over time as people become more aware of themselves and others around them. This background does further support the notion that I didn’t know how to love myself more.

The steps that I took in order to develop a deeper capacity of love for myself were

1. I developed a clear picture of how I wanted to feel when I fully love myself. I did this through meditation and the feeling of love.

2. I developed a daily list of gratitude for aspects of myself. The list included things I am proud of, achievements and successes I had.

3. I used affirmations like “I am in the process of  loving myself, wholly and completely.” The process of loving myself wholly and completely, allowed me to recognize signs of how I am loving myself.”

Describe for yourself what does love look like for you?

Be in the energy of love each day, every day.

“Be the CEO of your Joy’

I recently read the lesson “No one else is in charge of your happiness. Be the CEO of your Joy” in the book “God Never Blinks- 50 Lessons for Life’s Little Detours” by Regina Brett. Before I actually read the chapter I decided to go into my own akashic records to see what this lesson means for me. Upon consulting my records, I quickly became aware of my joy is living in reality. There are many illusions that I have created or I have bought into. When I take ownership of my joy, guide myself to more joy, I find myself in a place of growth and expansion and happiness.

There are times where most of us have looked outside ourselves for happiness or joy either from an achievement, friend, partner, money , etc. Ask yourself “where have I looked for joy?”

Are you surprised by this answer? Now remember a time when you really felt happy. What were the circumstances that got you to that state? Was it the fact that a new partner came into your life and you realized how much you had grown as a person? Was it that you committed to yourself and achieved a goal? Notice the statements show you as the owner of your happiness.

I decided to read the book on this lesson. My takeaways were:
1. Ask yourself what truly would make you happy.
2. Choose to be happy
3. Accept and celebrate that you are in charge of your own happiness.

Smile. You are in charge.

Excitement comes in a daily form

Being excited about life, being and each moment must come in a daily form.

I have been contemplating how to be in a state of excitement. I realized I was looking for something outside me to make me excited instead of recognizing that excitement is a state of being just like happiness is.

Choosing to be excited about life can happen right now and in this moment. There is excitement to be had about living, breathing, and just being you.

Give yourself permission to be excited for a minute, just for a minute. Do you want to

stay excited or want to look for something outside yourself to get you excited. It’s your choice.

Engaged and Motivated in your Business life?

As I sit here at a coffee shop, I am extremely grateful for the fact that I live a lifestyle that allows me to do what I love when I want. I wear many hats and people always remark “Wow, you are busy.” My response back is always the same, it sounds that way but I truly enjoy what I do.

I have created a lifestyle where my different hats are intermixed and support one another. In reality I don’t really feel like I am working most of the time. I am able to use my creative tools in different projects so that I am constantly engaged. I also have created life long friendships with whom I attend events with. This supports me in having balance as we end the night off with dinner or drink.

It is such a pleasure for me to wake up in the morning to be excited about what I will be learning that day or who I am meeting that day. I get to help people fulfill their dreams and it is the best feeling in the world.

I have learnt much through my business career both working at University of British Columbia and as an entrepreneur. I have been able to apply different tools and skills to make situations work for me.

Now I would like to share them with you so that you are able to feel a deeper level of satisfaction in your business and career. I want others to love spending their days doing what they love, building positive relationships and being wealthy.

Is it work when you are having fun?

What is it that you notice about this picture? There is lots of people and a little boy dancing as the obvious. What emotion do you see in the boy?

I am seeing alot of joy, passion and celebration. He is having fun.

As I was prepping for this Media launch of the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society(VIBC) City of Bhangra festival 2012 (www.cityof bhangra.com), I realized I was having fun with my role in this organization. I have been with VIBC for the last 6 years in various roles from event coordinator to operations to festival production to grant writer to tresaurer to vice-chair. I have grown as a professional and personally from my experience with the organization. The best part is I am only with the organization because I have fun. I feel passion and joy and I meet like-minded individuals.

This is a volunteer role. I used to have a belief that I couldnt have fun and enjoy what I do because life is struggle and work. In the past year with my own business, I know there is space for fun, passion and joy while earning money.

How can you have more fun in your career? Are you having fun now or do you need a change?

Celebrating one year

Into Essence Coaching is celebrating one year!

Happy Birthday to me:)

It has been quite a fun year. The people I  met, the conversations I had and the shifts that we saw.

I had started thinking I would be doing just business coaching but quickly expanded to working with on time management, feeling happier and more joyful in their life. I saw people feel more energized and refreshed after sessions. I saw people feel lighter and brighter. I saw people happy in their life.

What a joy it is to be witness that!

What are you celebrating from the past year?

Celebration
