Is it work when you are having fun?

What is it that you notice about this picture? There is lots of people and a little boy dancing as the obvious. What emotion do you see in the boy?

I am seeing alot of joy, passion and celebration. He is having fun.

As I was prepping for this Media launch of the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society(VIBC) City of Bhangra festival 2012 (www.cityof bhangra.com), I realized I was having fun with my role in this organization. I have been with VIBC for the last 6 years in various roles from event coordinator to operations to festival production to grant writer to tresaurer to vice-chair. I have grown as a professional and personally from my experience with the organization. The best part is I am only with the organization because I have fun. I feel passion and joy and I meet like-minded individuals.

This is a volunteer role. I used to have a belief that I couldnt have fun and enjoy what I do because life is struggle and work. In the past year with my own business, I know there is space for fun, passion and joy while earning money.

How can you have more fun in your career? Are you having fun now or do you need a change?

Women Run the World

In celebration of International Women’s Day

Beyonce has the right vision of how Women should run the world. Women are know to be in touch with their emotions which makes them exceptional leaders. Women have been leaders in different capacities around the world. I recently came across the Guide to Women Leaders http://www.guide2womenleaders.com/, which lists all women leaders in politics over time. This site was a blessing to see.

The fact that women are running the world in different ways, makes me feel proud to be a women. Recently I have been researching and reading about how throughout history women have always helped men lead empires and religions. The women were the silent leaders. They led through “advising” the men on what actions to take. As I was researching more on the history of the Taj Mahal (which is made in honor of a women), I came to learn that Mumtaz Mahal has been said to be the power behind Emperor Shah Jahan. The thought comes to mind, how many women have been truly in power but were hidden from the public eye?

It is wonderful to see that now women are coming to the forefront and claiming their place in society. the Forbes Most Powerful Women. This list is complete with women who are current leaders in business and politics. I was slightly disappointed that in the Forbes billionaire list have inherited the wealth (Wal-Mart, Loreal are in the top twenty - www.forbes.com). I would have loved to see women entrepreneurs and leaders to have been on this list on their own accord. I know that in time that is the direction we are heading in but it has taken centuries to arrive to even this place.

What are you doing in your life to contribute to women running the world? How are you supporting your passion to contribute to this movement?

From vacation to reality

When on vacation, how do you view life?

How do you view your day to day life?

As the complete coconut or the one that has all the coconut water and sweet coconut meat to enjoy? (please excuse the quality of the pictures-there was a camera incident at the beach;)

If we look at the whole coconut, what do you see? Do you know the benefits and the joys you will get by breaking into it?

Ever think if we always viewed life from vacation mode or as the open coconut, how much more fun we would have?

You could constantly be on an adventure, exploring and creating magical experiences.

What adventure do you want to create for yourself today, this week and even in this month? Yes in your day to day life:)

Take a deep breath and call in the energy of vacation mode. How does it feel?

It can be that easy to enjoy life to the fullest, to have fun and laugh.

What is one thing you can do in your day to day that you would do on vacation mode?

Feel free to post on the Facebook page:)

Love in the purest form

In the celebration of love today, I decided to share my experience of pure, unconditional love I experienced with Amma-the hugging saint.

At a young age, Amma realized her life purpose was to show people the unconditional, pure love that we receive from God, Universe or however you may refer to a higher being.

I recently had the opportunity to visit her for the second time at her home in Amritapuri. Both visits, I have been fortunate to receive a hug of love from her.

After my hug this time, I felt an abundance of joy, love, and freedom where my heart was shining wide open.

I realized I had felt this love inside myself for a longtime, it was waiting for me to recognize it fully to really allow it to be all it is.

When have you felt so much love, joy and freedom in your life? Are you ready to feel it on a day to day basis?

Having been working deep within myself both alone and with a coach for the last while, I realized it was the love that I was preparing myself.

Shall we take a leap towards love together through one of ways that we can play together?

In this post, I am promoting strictly my own spiritual experience and not a religion, saint, deity or anything of the sorts.

Passion at Aswasa Bhavan Orphanage and School

My trip to India has really been showing me how someone living in passion moves mountains and changes lives.

Today’s trip was to Aswasa Bhavan Orphanage and School.

I was so fortunate to meet with the man and women behind the organization – Joseph Mathew and Aneena J. Mathew. Joseph had a story of awakening like some people do who live their life purpose. The realization of his life purpose came to him when the doctor’s told he was going to die. The one thing he did say was he wished there was an easier way he knew his life purpose instead of being on his deathbed. I chuckled to myself of that’s why coaches exist so people can find their life purpose in an easy way.

The couple had such a passion for helping the kids, whose parents were in jail. The government provides the names of the kids but does not provide funding. The couple has 45 kids who live in the orphanage while their parents serve life sentences (usually 12-14 years). The purpose of the organization is provide support so the children can get an education in order to have a better life. The couple has been helping kids through education for 25 years.

Last year they opened a school for the local children where no fees are collected. My friend and I met with 150 kids today who are learning the basics of education as well as life skills. The philosophy of the school is to have the kids be well-rounded so they can sustain their own lives.

I, personally connected with one of the boys who was three years old. We didn’t speak each other’s language but we bonded over laughing and making faces. I was told that later that he has been living at the orphanage for a few years and probably will never know his parents. It saddens me how each of us have a choice to make of what our live looks like but when we make a choice from our head instead of our heart, we may affect the lives of others.

I feel so uplifted and motivated to live my purpose. I am grateful that my awakening was smooth and the transition is easy. I wish that for everyone.

Stones into Schools

I have just finished reading “Stones into Schools” by Greg Mortenson and it got me engaged on the topic of living our life’s purpose.

Greg Mortenson follows his calling and his life purpose’s of building schools in order to promote education as a way to bring peace and calm to the areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. He purposely builds schools in remote areas that do not have that infrastructure.

Every time I am reminded that there are places without schools, it is astonishing to me. In my view it is a basic right that we have but I was reminded that yes this is the case. How I have taken education for granted. It got me thinking about what else I take care for granted? Unfortunately, I came up with a few things. I reminded myself to start working on my gratitude journal where I would list 3 things every day that I am grateful for.

Greg also realized he was taking a few things for granted and he decided to seize the opportunity. He felt compelled to work with the remote communities to support them in building infrastructure for their future generations.

It is always important to be aware of the opportunities presented to us and seize those opportunities. What do you feel that your calling is? How can you contribute to your community?

These are important questions that we all must ask ourselves in order to be truly fulfilled.

Sex as a spiritual exercise

Isn’t the Kama Sutra from the country of India, all about passion and lust?

Kama Sutra originated as a path to gaining ecstasy that connects you to God as per Deepak Chopra in his “Kama Sutra & the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. ”

Yes sex is a path to gain connection to God. While in intimate positions and acts, we let go of all barriers and emotions that are blocking us from our enlightenment.

Deep breathing while standing in each other’s personal space allows for a flow and connection that is deeply seated in our sexual organs. The act of breathing deep from your sexual core also releases creativity, as our creativity is stored as heat in our sexual organs. If on a day-to-day basis, we are not accessing our creative forces we will have pent up sexual energy. This sexual energy can be released through deep breathing, channeling that energy into a project of passion or having sex with oneself or a partner.

“Sexual energy is the most primal and creative energy on earth”(Deepak Chopra). It is essential that this energy is focused towards physical, emotional or spiritual. It shows up as arousal, passion, awakening, interest, excitement, creativity or enthusiasm. Feel this energy on a daily basis and you will be living a life that exceeds your imagination.

Sex heals. Accessing sexual energy is rejuvenating, enhances longevity as explained by the Tao.

Heal yourself through sexual energy. Cultivate the power in sexual energy to live your passions and live a life of fulfillment.

Heal your relationship through the use of breath

Begin by standing close enough to your partner that you can hear their breath.

Look deep into their eyes, at the same time one of you breathes in while the other breathes out.

Then switch in unison to doing the opposite. With this breathe you are creating a circle of breath. This breathe and the deep eye contact is creating a connection at the core level of both parties.

Continue to do this for 3 minutes and notice how connected you feel before engaging in a kama sutra position of your choice.

Honouring our bodies

How is it you honour your body?

Do you take the necessary time to relax and rejuvenate?

It is the cold/flu season right now. I have been sick on and off for the last three weeks. I have a nice husky voice at the moment that may not really sound like me.

I realized how much I have not honoured my body by not allowing it the rest and rejuvenation that it needed. I have been working long hours as I am really passionate about what I am doing. Admist these long hours, I neglected the passion for honouring my body.

I was forced to cancel a three day vacation of rest and rejuvenation at a small resort as I didn’t have the energy to get on the ferry. Instead I am resting and rejuvenating in the comfort of my own home. I realized that this is the better way for me to rest and rejuvenate as I am learning how to incorporate this into my daily lifestyle.

This lesson did cost me the deposit on the resort and the fact I am sick. It was an important lesson for me to learn. I just have compassion for myself and will incorporate the honouring of my body into my daily routine.

How will you incorporate honouring yourself into your day to day?

Female Super Heroines

MAC Cosmetics Wonder Woman Lipglass

As I was using my MAC Wonder Woman lipgloss this morning, I started to think about who is my favorite female super heroine. There are many qualities of super heroes/heroines that I admire – their drive, passion, ability to save the day and the world. They are dedicated to what they care about and day in and day out do what is important to them.

I started to reflect on how do I embody these qualities? What motivates me in the morning to be excited for the day? What am I passionate about that drives me. A few things come to mind right away…I love being able to be in essence so I can support others in being in their essence. I have supportive family and friends who teach me to love and be loved so that I can support others in learning to love and be loved as well. I am passionate about being in power in all aspects of my life.

A few questions for you to ponder…what are your passions? What are you excited about? Most importantly who is your favorite superheroine? Here is a list to reflect upon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_superheroines. Feel free to share below who your favorite female super heroine is and why.

How to discover beauty in life

Heart in the sky

Heart in the sky

Enjoying the present

Enjoying the present

Beautiful messages and opportunities will present themselves to us as we stay present to our location, our surroundings, our community and especially ourselves.

Both if these pictures represent the messages from the universe and reminders of how beautiful life really is. In Richmond, I was having a conversation with two friends when we noticed the heart in the sky.

Coincidentally enough our conversation was about how we open our hearts to receive. As precisely the same time, this heart was formed in the sky. What a confirmation!

The second picture was taken as I went for a walk around my neighborhood. As I was engaging with my neighbors through smiles and hellos, I started to notice the place of happiness being expanded inside me. As I continued to walk, I became more and more grateful for where I lived and the beauty that exists in my backyard.

What is it that you are truly grateful for in your life and your community? What’s one way to celebrate what you have?

This morning I treated myself to a walk along the harbour to marvel again at the beauty of my home.
